Weekend Recap: Fabulously Fall
September 17, 2010
I apologize for being ridiculously tacky with my alliterations. Oh well, I can’t help myself. This weekend I plan to indulge in the following
1) Fall in the Village Art Festival Freeport is a tiny, adorable little village 15 minutes north of Portland and it is an outlet village. JCrew, Gap, Banana, Burberry, Polo. It’s incredible(y dangerous for my wallet). So I’ve been planning on shopping one of these weekends when I go home, and then I came across a tweet that referenced the Festival! So now I have a good excuse to go up. Enjoy some art. Walk the streets. Shop. Uh oh…
2) Boating, boating, boating. Summer in Maine is clinging on for dear life. This weekend’s weather forecast calls for 70 degrees and sunny, but anyone from New England knows what that means. It’s September. In Maine. 70 degrees in sunny is crisp and cool with a chilly breeze. The sun is really just there for good looks. So Mum and Dad and I (and likely BF) are going out on the boat for the day Saturday. Plan is to head towards one of the islands for lunch or to anchor somewhere for some afternoon wine. It will be glorious. Expect pictures!
3) Seussical The Musical. Okay, not Fall at all, but it will be fun. Boyfriend’s best friend’s girlfriend (stick with me) is an actress in the local theater scene (good for her) so we’re doing our part to support the gal by going to see her play! I’m excited. Word is that she’s fantastic, and we’re taking boyfriend’s little sis along for the ride.
4) Portland Trails 10K Trail to Ale Road Race I was supposed to run. I am lazy and therefore did not train, at all. As a result, boyfriend will run. boyfriend’s best friend will get my bib. I will wait at the end in the beer tent for runners to finish. Cheers, yay, glad you ran! The race takes place on a Sunday morning but did you read the headed? The 10k is called Trail to Ale! The race is sponsored by Maine’s finest (http://www.shipyard.com/, duh) so awaiting the runners will be some nice cold Pumpkinhead. Glorious.

Two photos to prove my weekend was just as glorious as I had imagined. Cheers.

Update: Back together with BF
September 16, 2010
In case my Facebook statuses and albums didn’t clue you in, the BF and I are officially back together. No more bf turned ex-bf, no more weird gray zone, no more back and forth and in between.
Sorry, do I seem confused about all this?

We’re together. I am in a relationship. With this man. Woot woot.

I will now pretend I did not just say “woot. woot.” I’m not sure why, but that expression just seemed appropriate at the time. Excuse me, I’m sick and tired.

Must buy: Gold Glam Skirt
September 16, 2010
I can admit that my style is typically cute but almost always in a super plain and simple way. I like my designer jeans paired with a vneck and my pencils skirts don’t tend to include any wild and crazy prints. I like my blacks, whites, tans, grays. One glimpse into my sweater closet validates my wardrobe’s lack of color:
In my opinion cardigans, jewelry and flats were invented to take care of the color. Anyways, Krystal recently posted about eyeing a gold sequin skirt and I died. I want one. I still need one. But I have to say, I’m not sure I’d actually dare to go sequins. Again. Me. Plain, simple. So when I saw these skirts, I double dog died. Metallic enough to make me shine, with some for the work day, others for a night on the town.

I vant. All of them. The end.

8 Reasons Why This Week Rocked
September 10, 2010
Did I really just use the word ‘rocked’? I suppose I’ve been spending too much time writing for a target audience between the ages of 13-17. Pardon my word choice. But, yes, this week rocked. Had you asked me on Monday, I would have begged to differ, but after a rough start to the week, well, things they turned around!
- I technically had a 4 day work week
- Wednesday night I went out for drinks with my roommates, boyfriend and co-workers. Talk about killing three birds with one stone! And having a blast
- A meeting with the President came and went, with flying colors
- My role within the group (at work) is becoming more fun by the day, and rewarding
- Despite my room being a mess, I was super productive all week, crossing things off my work to-do and my personal to-do list.
- It’s now Friday and I’m heading out to Sonsie to meet two of my darling college roommates for dinner and drinks. (See Megan, below)

- Tomorrow is Saturday, and the boyfriend and I have 2 tickets to paradise. (Read: all day with Sam Adam’s Octoberfest, yum.)
- Sunday is Patriot’s day. No silly, not the holiday. Patriots! Sunday Football is back!

Working from home on Labor Day
September 6, 2010
Here I am, sitting in Portland, in my parents house, at their dining room table with my work computer turned on. I’ve been online and plugged into the work networks for over an hour now, on Labor Day… isn’t today about taking a day off from work?
I suppose it’s fine, considering I had an incredible weekend. Pictures will come soon. I spend a night in the Old Port, a day on the couch, Saturday on Little Diamond Island and Sunday at Sugarloaf. Now it’s Monday, and I’m plugged into work networks, trying to focus and get caught up. I’m so behind in work, and I don’t know how I got there. But the more behind I get, the more upset and flustered I get, and the less productive I become, all which just gets me even further behind. I can’t win at this 9-5 stuff.
Three years into the game and I think I’m realizing that I’m not ready to be a full time working professional.

But, alas, here I am. Working from home on Labor Day. The day Wikipedia says is ‘often regarded as a day of rest and parties.’
