Remember a few hours ago when I wrote to share that all was well during the heart of Hurricane Irene in Boston?  Well I suppose I spoke too soon.  We’ve had music and movies playing all morning, and apparently haven’t tuned into the news to get the most accurate update on Hurricane Irene’s damage and impact on the greater Boston area.  Well, we drove to the store to get a few things (packing tape and gingerale, more on that later) and this is what we found:

That’s a massive oak tree (I think) that took out a few squares of city sidewalk and crushed a fence enclosing a neighborhood playground.  This is just a few doors down from the boyfs house where we’ve been holed up for 12+ hours.

Woof.  Irene, I guess you were stronger than I thought!
