Hey Hot Pink

May 2, 2012

Late Sunday night I had some me time, with my DVR, a cold beer and of course, some nail polish. I was going back and forth between a few of my favorite shades of pink, and landed on Enuf is Enuf by Essie. The color is a little bit pink, and a little bit red. Not a true orange, but not really a coral either.

However you describe the shade, I’ve decided that the Enuf is Enuf color by Essie is the perfect way to welcome the month of May. Here are a few other pieces I rounded up that will give your month a little burst of summery brightness. 1. Corin dress in Outrageous Pink (similar) / 2. Coral coasts top / 3. Rag and Bone Skinny Jeans (similar) / 4. Exploded Katie Bracelet, Marc by Marc Jacobs / 5. Baublebox Bib Necklace, Kate Spade / 6. Baublebox Clip Earrings, Kate Spade / 7. Dotz Bib Necklace, Kate Spade

Gift Wrapping With Kraft Paper

March 15, 2012

Earlier this month the boyf turned 27, and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to buy him the perfect gift, no matter how early I happened to find it.  For reasons I just can’t seem to understand, he’s been wanting to join a boxing club, or at the very least, take a few boxing lessons for as long as I can remember. So months and months ago when a LivingSocial deal popped up offering one month of unlimited boxing at the Ring Boxing Club down the road, I knew I had to snag it for him. We already had Christmas gifts settled, and decided a nice dinner out together would be best for a shared Valentine’s gift, so the next appropriate celebration was his birthday.

He was, thrilled.

I had no doubt that he’d love the gift itself, but what I loved most was the chance to gift wrap. I’ve been finding lots of inspiration in beautiful packaging lately, my absolute favorite blog being Oh, Hello Friend. I love the way most of her images use Kraft paper and often layer things like lace and ribbon and fabric and paper. And she has a brilliant way of incorporating natural materials like robe and yarn.

Check out some looks that inspired me:

Since I pretty much wore out the all metallic look at Christmas with my gold wrapping paper, I was excited to try out this more organic look with Kraft paper, blue gauze ribbon and a layer of gold rope. A quick trip to Paper Source and I was ready.

I definitely had fun picking out the paper, gauze ribbon and cord, but am less happy with the final product than I had hoped. Oh well, you live and you learn. Next time I’ll be sure to pick out more texture, and to fill more of the space with fun labels and accessories. What are some of your favorite ways to wrap gifts?

Happy Valentine’s Day

February 14, 2012

Love it or hate it, it’s here, so let me be the first to say Happy Valentine’s Day, loves. Go make the most of the day, whether you’re in a relationship or happily single. And while you’re at it, go eat a cupcake, (or ten), and a cake pop (or two)!

Since I’m a firm believer of showing our loved ones how much we care every day of the year, the real perk to me each Valentine’s Day is all the yummy treats. Chocolate shows up at the office? Okay, I’ll eat it. Friends drop off pink and red died cupcakes? Thank youuu! Stores give out candy at the register? I’ll take a handful. And who doesn’t love a good excuse to bake a few treats in the kitchen?

With that said, here’s a round up of some of the yummiest (color appropriate) Valentine’s Day desserts that I found on Pinterest.

Not-So Mellow Yellow

February 7, 2012

Not that this should be news to you, but yellow is everywhere. And I’m not talking about a pale, whimsical, spring like yellow. I’m talking bright, and bold. Neon yellow. Mustard. Marigold. And it’s not just popping up in wardrobes, it’s on walls, it’s on furniture, it’s in artwork and accessories. I’m loving it, are you?

Daily Color Splash: 11.15.11

The Copley Square Farmer’s Market will close for the season next week, and it breaks my little vegetarian heart! Local farms set up shop every Tuesday and Friday, and since I work in Copley Square it’s the perfect place to snag some deliciously fresh veggies before heading home. It’s also a great spot to grab lunch on a sunny day. Nothing gives your mind a break from the office like a restful lunch in the park, complete with a warm baguette, a fresh sandwich with goat cheese, or a bundle of sugar snap peas. Mmmm, snap peas.

Daily Color Splash: 11.14.11

November 14, 2011

Coffee, espresso, cappuccino, my wardrobe. All things that embody my favorite color palette: neutrals. Rich chocolates, warm tans, and light and airy creams. Shades of caramel, almond, wood, cocoa, leather. Beige, sepia, gold. I love earthy neutrals. So I buy clothes in earthy neutrals. Easy as that.

Daily Color Splash: 11.11.11

November 11, 2011

I’ve been slacking on my inspiration by color posts all week, but I’m back today with some patriotic shots in honor of Veteran’s Day. The internet has been flooded with heart warming messages today, messages to our soldiers past and present, quotes about recognition, appreciation, gratitude. One quote in particular has left me thinking all day.

Photos found on Pinterest here, here, here and here.

I’ll leave you with the quote and encourage you to mull it over, to think about the very things that you should be most thankful for: “We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude.”

Daily Color Splash: 11.04.11

November 4, 2011

I can’t deny that I’m particularly partial to OPI nail polish, but when I find an Essie color that I just love, I don’t hate. So here goes. Ladies and gents, I’ve been wearing the same nail polish color for almost two weeks now. I just love it. It’s gorgeous, goes by the name Island Hopping by Essie. So when I saw this eclectic wallpaper on Houzz, I squealed with delight. Not that I would ever put this in my own house, but simply because I saw traces of Island Hopping. Oh, joy.

Wall paper photo found on Houzz here, and nail polish by Essie.

It’s hard to go wrong with a classic blue oxford shirt, but make it be known: everything looks better with a gold accessory or two.
